Mind the Gap: Why Dyslexic Learners Are Still Being Left Behind

A new report from the British Dyslexia Association (June 2025) reveals something deeply concerning: only 21.6% of students with dyslexia are achieving a Grade 5 or above in English and Maths GCSEs — compared to over 51% of their peers.
This isn’t about intelligence. Dyslexic students are just as capable, but they face an exam system designed around fast reading, fluent writing, and memory recall — areas they often struggle with.
Worse still, 80% of dyslexic learners never receive a diagnosis during school. That means no access arrangements, no tailored teaching, and no fair shot at success.
At Brilliant Brain, we believe it doesn’t have to be this way.
We offer:
Dyslexia screening - quick, early identification
Full diagnostic assessments - unlocking the right support
Exam access arrangements - levelling the playing field
We’re here to help every learner thrive, not just survive school.
